Most of us dread old age. If we could, we’d be twenty-something forever, looking good and full or energy and youth. Alas, that’s not the way things go, and it doesn’t do you any good to stress over getting old. Worrying about it will only ever make it worse, time passes us by so if you’re not ready and willing to enjoy it when you have it, you’ll soon find you don’t have any more.
The body and mind, while usually considered to be at their peak in the twenties-thirties, don’t degrade in the way many presume. Yes we get some wrinkles, yes we might not be able to fun as fast, and maybe we can’t consume the same things we could in college. But there are a few things that an experienced body has over it’s younger self. The Huffington Post as a new post about the body and it’s improvements through age:
1. You might have fewer migraines.
Any sufferer knows there’s nothing worse than the searing pain, nausea and sensitivity of migraines. The good news is that you might be able to kiss this unfriendly visitor goodbye as you get older. According to some neurologists, the average onset of migraines is around age 20 and they tend to start tapering off after about 25 years. In fact, a study by Swedish researchers found that migraines in subjects with an average age of 55, seemed to vanish in about 30 percent of the sufferers over the 12-year study. Around 80 percent of the people who still suffered migraines said they had fewer attacks and just over half said the attacks didn’t last as long. And according to the Migraine Trust, 40 percent of migraine sufferers are attack-free by 65.
If anyone’s experienced migraines, you’ll be happy to read that passage. But wait, there’s more, but you’ll need to head over to the Huffington Post for the full article.
