Continued learning and education is becoming a more important facet of life the more time passes. Today, we have technology and science changing and replacing jobs left right and center, and so being able to adapt and learn becomes an important skill. Too often we leave school and think that’s it for our education, we know what we need to to work and earn a living for life. That’s no longer the case.
But there’s another benefit to maintaining a curiousness and drive to learn well into your older years, it keeps your brain healthy and nimble. Several studies have shown that learning new things can make us happier and mentally healthier, while new research is demonstrating that going back to college can help stave off Alzheimer’s. Newsmax has more:
The results, published this week by the American Psychological Association journal and originally published online in the journal Neuropsychology, showed that more than 90 percent of the participants who had completed a college course displayed a significant increase in cognitive capacity, compared to 56 percent of the control group participants who hadn’t taken any courses.
Megan Lenehan, PhD, said, “The study findings are exciting because they demonstrate that it’s never too late to take action to maximize the cognitive capacity of your brain.”
Not only will you be assuring yourself of an adaptable and economically viable future income, but your mind will become sharp and healthy. Check out the rest of the post for more details.
