Exercise is a powerful activity. It helps us form the body shape we desire, it builds our strength and endurance, and it leaves us feeling spent — but in a good way. It also has numerous beneficial aspects in regards to our health. Science is showing how effective a good exercise regimen can be in helping us fight off disease and sickness.

Cancer’s the big evil in the world today, we know very little about how to stop it, yet we know very well how devastating it’s effects. For those who experience it, any chance of survival or at least relief should be welcomed, and exercise may provide just that. As Life Extension Daily News points out, there may be a link between aerobic exercise sessions and the survival rate of those with prostate cancer:

A group of men with the illness are being put through their paces with weekly aerobic sessions by researchers to explore the possible health benefits. Previous evidence has suggested that exercise can improve survival chances for those with the disease.

[Says volunteer David Curtis] “I was never someone to go to the gym, even though I’ve always been active, but now I go to the gym twice a week and do lots of walking.

“Since starting on the study, I’ve started to lose weight and my PSA level has come down which is a really positive indicator.”

High levels of PSA, a protein produced by prostate cells, in the bloodstream can signal cancer.

It’s becoming less and less surprising that exercise does have these types of benefits, but in no way does that mean they’re any less significant. Check out the full article for more details.
